Conservatives are sharing this interview like it’s a body double conspiracy video. And once again, I am puzzled about what is really going on in their brains. First of all, it’s a Funny or Die skit by Zach Galifianakis and is about getting laughs. It’s not meant to be political or serious. That should be obvious enough considering the content.
Then there are the several spots in the nearly 6 minute interview that make it clear Zach is not a Trump fan. Like these exchanges:
ZACH: Are you down with TPP?
CLINTON: I’m not down with TPP.
ZACH: No, you’re supposed to say, “yea, you know me.” Like the hip hop group.
CLINTON: Don’t tell me what to say.
ZACH: Fine lose. Country goes to shit.
Or…
ZACH: "When you see how well it works for Donald Trump, do you think to yourself, oh maybe I should be more racist."
Clinton shakes her head, laughing...
And of course there’s the white power tie quip, which was actually one of the few staged parts of the interview according to Between Two Ferns creator, Scott Aukerman in an interview with Vulture.

Also in that interview, Aukerman pointed out that the whole interview was Clinton’s idea.
“In this case, we heard that there was interest from Hillary Clinton, but we started taking it seriously when we heard, "Oh no, it's her idea and if you say, 'yes,' it'll actually happen." We shot it on September 9th.”
All in all, I think Clinton came across as pretty funny and I don’t see anything negative towards her campaign or herself. Maybe it’s the email joke at the end or the lady jokes like how fast Clinton could type as secretary, bringing Obama “weak” coffee, or the pregnancy joke. Something tells me they really think this interview somehow weakens Clinton candidacy and don’t see it as the funny, intelligent (at times), and playfully awkward joke of an interview.
Perhaps I’ve misjudged some of my conservative acquaintances and they understand all of this and just wanted to share this interview because it genuinely made them laugh… but I doubt it.
